The fonds consists of early and more recent records of the parish. The early records include a parish list for 1878, a list of persons confirmed in the parish, from 1882-1888; annual reports of the St. Agatha's Branch of the Girls' Friendly Society to 1907; offerings from the Trinity Mission, 1904-1912 and 1923-1926, subscribers list 1924. For the mid-20th century records include minute books of the parish council, 1946-1971, parish list, 1943-1947; accounts and rector's stipend, 1945-1962; members of the parish council 1947; correspondence from the Central Diocese for the period 1971-1981, when the parish was combined with that of Trinity East-Port Rexton. The fonds also includes photocopies of the registers of births, marriages and burials for the parish, 1757-1867.

Fonds consists of sacramental ledgers, including baptismal registers (1843-1948), illegitimates baptismal register (1901-47), marriage registers (1844-98) and death registers (1891-97, 1927-75). The fonds also includes financial statements (1915-30); documents related to parish property and buildings (1955-78); correspondence (1951-79); parish documents (1891, 1915-19); and parish boundaries (1985). There are also addresses prepared for the Bishop's visits (1951, 1961); one photograph and related records.

Basilica-Cathedral of St. John the Baptist Parish (St. John's, N.L.) fonds

Fonds consists of baptismal (1802-1855), marriage (1793-1882), and publication (1873-1907) registers; a marriage register index (1821-1855); microfilm reels of marriage registers (1793-1899) and baptismal registers (1802-1889); a register that documents the conveyance of stone for the construction of the Cathedral (1837-1857); canonical decrees and maps delineating parish boundaries (1982-1998); correspondence relating to the general operation of the parish and the maintenance of the Basilica-Cathedral (1853, 1952-1955, 1972-1979); photographs of the Basilica-Cathedral and its ornamentation (1980); and articles of incorporation for the Roman Catholic Episcopal Corporation of St. John's (1913).

Material also has been collected around the theme of the parish and integrated into the fonds by the Archives. This material includes newspaper clippings, articles, and histories detailing the construction, ornamentation, and architecture of the Basilica-Cathedral, and church bulletins and publications. Photocopies predominate.
