Annual Reports

Series consists of Annual Report of the Topsail Pastoral Charge. The reports include statements of Revenue and Expenditures and a listing of Ministerial, Mission and Service Givings for the pastoral charge. Also included are reports from the various groups that operate within the pastoral charge.

Baptism, Marriage and Burial Records

Series consist of registers of vital statistics of the Topsail Pastoral Charge from its beginnings up to 1982. Series is arranged as follows: Baptism Registers,1886-1973; Marriage Register, 1886-1982; Burial Register, 1886-1958.

Parish registers are in a deteriorating condition. Copies are being made of registers for general use by researchers.

Board and Committee Records

Series consists of records pertaining to committees that function within the Topsail pastoral charge.

Series includes: listing of Ministers and members and monies raised, 1886-1908; Committee of Stewards Minute Book for Topsail, 1950-1953.

Church Histories

Series consists of several folders containing miscellaneous material of a historical nature in connection with the Topsail Methodist Church.

Series is arranged as follows:
Folder 1 - labelled "church file" contains historical notes; and a brief history of Topsail Methodist Church, donated by S. Herder of the Evening Telegram in November, 1982;
Folder 2 - labelled "Topsail Historical File" contains historical materials; such as 75th Anniversary brochure of first ordained resident Minister, Rev. Mark Fenwick, 125th Anniversary brochure, Dedication and Official Opening of The Church by the Side of the Road, and miscellaneous correspondence;
Folder 3 - labelled "Anniversary Topsail - History of Topsail Methodist Circuit" contains items relating to the planning of the Anniversary of the Topsail United Church. It also contains excerpts from the Journal of Rev. Thomas Fox relating to his work in Newfoundland and information on Topsail which was collected by Dr. Louise Whiteway. Included also is minutes of the meetings which were held when the planning of the Anniversary celebrations of the Topsail Church;
Folder 4 - Labelled Old Records - Topsail United church contains various old ledgers and cash books, fire policy Topsail United Church, 1955; 1956;1958; 1947;1956; 1946.

Funds and Congregational Financial Records

Series consists of financial records of the Topsail Pastoral Charge. These records include church collections account and savings books.

Series is arranged as follows: Account Book (savings account), 1949-1958; Account Book (church collections), 1947-1953.

Membership Records

Series consist of Circuit Register which includes subscription list, Sunday School Statistics and collections for Topsail and Long Pond. Also included in register is Minutes of the Church Committee from 1891-1900. It also includes a membership listing of families of Topsail and Long Pond. Series is arranged as follows: Circuit Register, 1872-1906.


Series consists of newspaper clippings from the Evening Telegram and Daily News which gives details on the 125th Anniversary of the Topsail United Church, election of officers of the United Church Women and (six) copies of page 1 of the Evening Telegram which has article on second page referring to the first settlers of Topsail.

Fonds consist of records pertaining to the Topsail Pastoral Charge. These records relate to the activities of the Charge and its functional bodies. The majority of the records are in the form of minutes, financial records and annual reports and vital statistics.

Women's Groups Records

Series consists of records relating to the activities of the Ladies Aid Society and the United Church Women's Group. Their activities included fund-raising and social activities of the church. Also included is attendance record of the group at their monthly meetings.

Series consist of the following: Ladies Aid Treasurer's Book, 1935-1952; Secretary's Book, 1950-1951.
