The fonds consists of four ledgers for C.& A. Dawe, Bay Roberts, (1876-1877, 1877, 1878, 1923-25), a financial statement for C.& A. Dawe (1910), correspondence, an insurance policy 1874). a diary/logbook of the barque Nebo, 1904, and an undated statement of the master watch on the SS Terra Nova.

The fonds also includes the last will and testament of Charles Dawe, (1908) and a photocopy of a family tree of the Dawe family.

Fonds includes documents and photographs relating to the SS Bonde, her owners and crew. Photographs were taken while the ship was chartered to the Botwood, Newfoundland, paper trade. The fonds includes three photographs: the SS Bonde; the crew of the Bonde; and Captain C.A. Hansen, his wife and daughter (1948).

Captain Harry Stone fonds

Fonds consists of 4,141 photographs which Captain Stone had taken or collected over the past five decades and which documented in detail the shipping activity in and around the port of St. John's and the outports of Newfoundland. Since 1960, when Stone became harbour master at St. John's, he attempted to document every vessel which visited the port. In addition to photographs, the fonds includes Stone's notes and clippings on the vessels, as well as information on shipwrecks and other marine related activities. The fonds also includes 14 logbooks.

Fonds is arranged in four series according to the form of the material: Photographs, 1900-1994; Notes and clippings, 1960-1994; Logbooks, 1967-1980; and Published material. The published material has been added to the MHA reference library.

Fonds consists of microfilmed records in selected series of the Colonial Office records. Reproductions of shipping returns and records related to the international marine economy predominate. Shipping returns usually detailed vessels entered and cleared, masters' names, vessel rig and tonnage, place of vessel construction and registration, owners, cargo, origins and destinations.

The fonds also includes entry books (out-going correspondence and attachments), acts ( proclamations, ordinances, colonial legislation), government gazettes (official gazettes published in the colonies), miscellanea (colonial newspapers, Blue Books of Statistics, assorted reports and memoranda), and indices and registers.

Collection consists of extracts from the business papers of the firm of C. W. Kellock and its predecessors, selected by Dr. Keith Matthews, Memorial University of Newfoundland. The selected records are copies of memoranda of agreements (sales contracts) for the Liverpool office, 1850-1945. The records contain data on virtually every vessel which passed through the hands of the company, including each vessel's name and tonnage, the purchaser and seller, the selling price, and the conditions of sale.

Daniel Rogers account book

Fonds consists of a microfilmed ledger showing detailed credits of the customers of Daniel Rogers, from the fishing voyages of mariners to the butter delivered by local farm wives to his store. Entries for the 1780s describe the early development of the Cape Ann chebacco boat fishery.

The fonds consists of the financial records of E. Batson from 1934 to 1955. It includes daybooks; ledgers which are indexed by customer and/or supplier; memo books which contain information on various individual accounts; and cash receipt books. The fonds also includes two account books (1913-1916) and invoices and correspondence for the business of G.W. Gent of Trinity (1912-1916).

The records are arranged in three series: Daybooks (1934-1954); Ledgers (1913-1955); Miscellaneous account books (1912-1955).

Fonds consists of records (1873-1969) for Earle Sons and Company, Limited, and its predecessor company, Owen and Earle. The records originated at the company's head office at Fogo, and branches at Change Islands, Herring Neck, Barr'd Islands, Joe Batt's Arm, and Tilting, Newfoundland.

The fonds includes correspondence, bills of lading, freight books, shipping orders, receipts, and financial records for Fogo, Joe Batt's Arm, and Tilting. It also includes some records from the partnership between Henry J. Earle and John Owen.

Collection consists of 6 photographs copied from photographs collected by Edgar Baird relating to Glenwood, Gambo and Bay D'Espoir, Newfoundland.

Collection includes 2 images of the SS Kyle unloading in the ice at Bay D'Espoir, with loggers using teams (mostly oxen), dated Mar. 1939; a photograph of men taking supplies by horse and sled to a logging camp (193-); and a photograph of Gleneagles ( site of a flying boat base), Glenwood.

The collection also includes a photograph of Mi'kmaq woman, Maggie John, Glenwood, posing with baskets in front of her log cabin, and a portrait of Jesse Abbott, logger and riverman of Gambo. Abbott died when releasing a log jam and was swept over the falls.
