The fonds consists of records which document the work and activities of Cochrane Street United Church congregation, its boards and committees and its organizations, with the records starting in 1882.

The records consist of the administrative records of the congregation which include the Quarterly Official Board, the Boards of Session and Stewards, their committees, both standing and ad hoc, and the Board of Management starting in 1987, and its committees. The fonds also includes financial records, comprising of financial statements and reports as well as some audited reports. Also included are vital statistic records dating from the independence of the congregation in 1890 and membership records dating from 1916. Annual reports, many of which were published, are included. Women's and men's groups, youth groups, and Sunday School records are also a part of this fonds.

The records are arranged in the following series: board and committee records (1882-2005); financial records (1935-2004); legal records (1876-1981); baptism, marriage and burial records (1890-2006); membership records (1891-2005); congregational meetings (1930-2003); annual reports (1916-2005, predominant 1948-2005); general correspondence (1979-2003); Sunday School records [1886-198-]; youth groups records [196-]-[199-]; women's groups records (1931-2005); men's groups records [191-]-2001; related records ([19-]-2004).

Job Brothers & Co. Limited fonds

These papers cover four generations of the Job business, and reflect its diverse interests and holdings. The business records consist mainly of balance sheets and directors' reports, and reveal the many subsidiary concerns in which the family and its parent companies had invested. The papers also contain many legal documents, including examples of nineteenth century indentures, mining leases, property conveyances, share certificates, agreements and leases. Series 11-13 deal largely with the Liverpool side of the family, Samuel Job and Robert Hugh Job in particular, and in their capacity as executors of wills. Three photographs were found with the collection, one of Indian Harbour, c.1892, and two of 'Corner Bank House, Bell Tower and Fish Store, Winter House where S.D.G. was born June 8, 1890', one of which was taken in 1928 and the other at an earlier date.

The papers are arranged in fourteen series: Property in St. John's and Newfoundland, 1818-1916; Ledger, 1856-1882 (this is a separate accession which was added to the Job Family fonds); Stores, 1892-1952; Mines and mineral resources interests, 1889-1930; Timber interests, 1906-1912; Shipping and fisheries, miscellaneous, 1854-1942; Steamship and fisheries companies, 1913-1964; Business interests, miscellaneous, 1920-1952; Manufacturing and processing, 1914-1941; Job companies, 1907-1963; Miscellaneous family papers, 1847-1946; Cooke estate papers, 1839-1852; Howell papers, 1874-1887; Thomas R. Rev. Dr. Lester Burry fonds

Fonds consists of materials pertaining to Dr. Burry's career as a clergyman in various pastoral charges in Newfoundland and principally Labrador. There are four series. Series 1, (1933-1969, predominant 1933-1959), comprises 660 still images, in photographic, 35 mm and lantern slide format, as well as two 16 mm film reels. Some of the 35 mm slides have been numbered and have accompanying title descriptions. Series 2 contains personal and church papers as well as correspondence and notes about his ministry (1921-1977, predominant 1933-1957). Series 3 consists of medals, awards and certificates ([192-]-1969). Series 4 comprises six sound recordings in audio cassette format, which includes voice overs for slide presentations, interviews of Rev. Burry and other material. The accompanying slides to the voice overs had not been indicated in the slide arrangement at the time of acquisition
