The fonds consists of the financial records of E. Batson from 1934 to 1955. It includes daybooks; ledgers which are indexed by customer and/or supplier; memo books which contain information on various individual accounts; and cash receipt books. The fonds also includes two account books (1913-1916) and invoices and correspondence for the business of G.W. Gent of Trinity (1912-1916).

The records are arranged in three series: Daybooks (1934-1954); Ledgers (1913-1955); Miscellaneous account books (1912-1955).

Fonds consists of records (1873-1969) for Earle Sons and Company, Limited, and its predecessor company, Owen and Earle. The records originated at the company's head office at Fogo, and branches at Change Islands, Herring Neck, Barr'd Islands, Joe Batt's Arm, and Tilting, Newfoundland.

The fonds includes correspondence, bills of lading, freight books, shipping orders, receipts, and financial records for Fogo, Joe Batt's Arm, and Tilting. It also includes some records from the partnership between Henry J. Earle and John Owen.

Fonds is arranged in five series: Correspondence (1873-1968); Financial records (1878-1968); Labour records (1949-1966); Miscellaneous records (1878-1950); and Shipping records (1932-1969).

Collection consists of 6 photographs copied from photographs collected by Edgar Baird relating to Glenwood, Gambo and Bay D'Espoir, Newfoundland.

Collection includes 2 images of the SS Kyle unloading in the ice at Bay D'Espoir, with loggers using teams (mostly oxen), dated Mar. 1939; a photograph of men taking supplies by horse and sled to a logging camp (193-); and a photograph of Gleneagles ( site of a flying boat base), Glenwood.

The collection also includes a photograph of Mi'kmaq woman, Maggie John, Glenwood, posing with baskets in front of her log cabin, and a portrait of Jesse Abbott, logger and riverman of Gambo. Abbott died when releasing a log jam and was swept over the falls.

The Maritime History Archive commenced the collection of English parish records during the period 1973-1980. The parish records document the genealogical origins of Newfoundland families whose ancestors had emigrated from England before the twentieth century.

Collection consists of microfilmed copies of records of many parishes in the south West of England, particularly in the counties of Devon, Dorset, Somerset and Hampshire. The collection focuses on those areas which supplied crews for the Newfoundland fishery and the places of origin of Newfoundland settlers. Devon parishes predominate. The collection is indexed by parish.

Fonds consists of photographs of wrecked ships, taken by marine historian Eric Lawson.

Subjects include the following: The main beam of the wrecked bark Vicar of Bray, built at Whitehaven (1841) with tonnage (285) carved as required by law, resting at Goose Green, Falkland Islands; the wreck of the Garland; the wreck of the Protector, with a condition report (1994); the wreck of the Craigie Lee, (ON 50251), wrecked 26 Dec.1879; a vessel struck a reef off Bull Point, East Falkland on a voyage to the UK with a load of guano; and the vessel Beechbank.

Fonds consists of microfilmed records which were one of the Massachusetts Historical Society's earliest manuscript acquisitions. The original papers were donated to the Massachusetts Historical Society by Ezekiel Price in 1792. Included are manuscript letters, petitions, statistics, lists, and observations concerning the American Revolution, Maine lands and cod fisheries, Boston merchants, Boston town meetings, East India trade, and materials relating to William Bollan, John Hancock, Sylvester Gardiner, the Marquis de Vaudrieul, Edward Payne, and other Massachusetts founders

The fonds consists of four account books from the Fishermen's Union store at Greenspond. It includes a daybook containing accounts with the Fishermen's Union Trading Co. Ltd. (1914); men's accounts (1916); and general ledgers (1918 and 1921). The accounts list individuals from Greenspond and nearby communities who traded at the "Union Store".

Forward family fonds

The fonds contains deeds, conveyances and other legal documents, 1750-1866, Captains' logbooks, 1842-72 (Samuel, 1842, William the Fourth, 1852, Britain, 1853, Harriet Ridley, 1863-65, Six Brothers, 1872), and a Furness Line sailing schedule, 1928.

The legal documents provide evidence of the acquisition, transfer and subsequent loss of the family's property in Carbonear from 1834 to the 1860s. They also provide evidence of the business activities and associations of the firm of George Forward. The Captains' logbooks detail the voyages of five of the Forward's fleet of foreign-going vessels.

The records are arranged in three series: 1. Legal documents; 2. Logbooks; 3. Other material.

Fonds consists of Laws' working files, the majority of which came from Laws' office as manager of NAFEL. Other material relates to the various government agencies and committees with which he was associated. The bulk of the material covers the years from 1936 to 1981, when Laws was a central figure in Newfoundland's fishing industry.
