Contents covers the years from 1775-1940.

Fonds contains 6 individual diaries containing daily entries made by the telegraph operator at Little Harbour, La Poile Bay. The entries relate to the movement of vessels in the area, weather, fishing and sealing, community events and recreational pursuits. From 1885-1921 the diaries were kept by Robert J. Henderson and from 1938-1948, by George Henderson.

Fonds consists of records from the Swift Current Pastoral Charge and of its predecessor charges which include Sound Island (and Sound Island -Haystack) Pastoral Charge, Long Island Mission, Sunnyside (Bay Bull's Arm) Pastoral Charge, and Whitbourne Pastoral Charge. This reflects the many boundary changes that saw congregations in the Avalon isthmus area moving in and out of different Pastoral Charges as determined by the boundary Committees of conference.

Records include vital statistics, and those of various functional bodies of the Pastoral Charges. Included are reports, minutes, membership and subscription lists, accounts, and financial statements.

The records are arranged in the following series: Series 1.0: Baptism, marriage, and burial registers (1850-1996); Series 2.0: Board and committee records (1914-1983); Series 3.0: Membership records (1907-1953); Series 4.0: Education records (1924-1969); and Series 5.0: Annual reports and miscellaneous financial accounts (1907-1996).

These fonds consists of records pertaining to the Summerford-Moreton's Harbour Pastoral Charge. The records relate to the activities of the charge and its functional bodies which included Women's Association activities, Financial Management of the pastoral charge and pastoral charge vital statistics. The majority of the records are in the form of minutes, reports, financial statements and registers.

These fonds are arranged in the following series: Baptism, Marriage and Burial Records, 1874-1992; Board and Committee Records,1841-1974; Membership Records, 1924-1986; Women's Groups Records, 1964-1969; Youth Group Records, 1967-1969; Annual Reports, 1995 and 1996.

Collection consists of research data for Patricia Thornton's doctoral thesis, entitled "Dynamic Equilibrium: Settlement, Population and Ecology in the Strait of Belle Isle, Newfoundland, 1840-1940", (University of Aberdeen, 1979).

Collection includes 13 boxes of index cards, recording information on residents of 48 communities on each shore of the Strait of Belle Isle from 1848 until 1949. Boxes 1 and 3-11 contains the cards recording birth, marriage and deaths, arranged in alphabetical order. Boxes 2 and 13 contain marriage recall cards, which allow linkage between family groups, and additional data sheets.

Two of the notebooks contain school material; the third appears to be a delivery ledger and contains names and addresses of St. John's residents. One photograph appears to be a wedding portrait, entitled the James family; two are class portraits, entitled St. Bond's [sic] Class and Convent St. John's 1880's.
