This fonds contains some of the corporate records of Hawes and Company (London) Ltd. The records include minutes of meetings, trade reports and subject files. There is also a collection of financial records. Fonds is arranged in two series: 1. Administrative records, 1909-1934; 2. Financial records, 1926-1947.

Fonds consists of the administrative and operational records of the association from 1965 to 1988/89, and some general files relating to issues of interest to the last president, Wayne Davis, up to 1995. The administrative records include the articles of association and incorporation, minutes of meetings, assessment of membership, and membership lists. The correspondence and general files contain the records of the general affairs and interests of the association, reports, and draft briefs. There are some financial records in the form of invoices and cheques. The financial statements for the association were included in the records of the annual general meetings. Some of the material includes explanatory notations made by Wayne Davis when he was reviewing the files prior to donating them to the Maritime History Archive.

The fonds is arranged in five series: Administrative records, 1938 (photocopy), 1973-1988; Financial records, 1980-1986; Correspondence and general files, 1965-1987; Briefs and publications, 1963-1984; Other material, 1976, 1990-1995. The fonds also contains copies of minutes of related associations: the Newfoundland and Labrador Marine Advisory Committee and the Newfoundland Sealers' Association.

Job Brothers & Co. Limited fonds

These papers cover four generations of the Job business, and reflect its diverse interests and holdings. The business records consist mainly of balance sheets and directors' reports, and reveal the many subsidiary concerns in which the family and its parent companies had invested. The papers also contain many legal documents, including examples of nineteenth century indentures, mining leases, property conveyances, share certificates, agreements and leases. Series 11-13 deal largely with the Liverpool side of the family, Samuel Job and Robert Hugh Job in particular, and in their capacity as executors of wills. Three photographs were found with the collection, one of Indian Harbour, c.1892, and two of 'Corner Bank House, Bell Tower and Fish Store, Winter House where S.D.G. was born June 8, 1890', one of which was taken in 1928 and the other at an earlier date.

Fonds consists of a portion of the records from the Fogo headquarters of J.W. Hodge and the Fogo branch of its successor company, the St. John's-based Newfoundland and Labrador Export Company. The fonds also includes ledgers of a previous owner, possibly an earlier Hodge family member.

The records consist of correspondence, some business ledgers and journals, stock books, fish collection books, fish market reports, shipping papers, price lists, and catalogues.

Fonds consists of a microfilmed ledger showing detailed credits of the customers of Daniel Rogers, from the fishing voyages of mariners to the butter delivered by local farm wives to his store. Entries for the 1780s describe the early development of the Cape Ann chebacco boat fishery.
