Collection consists of 6 photographs copied from photographs collected by Edgar Baird relating to Glenwood, Gambo and Bay D'Espoir, Newfoundland.

Collection includes 2 images of the SS Kyle unloading in the ice at Bay D'Espoir, with loggers using teams (mostly oxen), dated Mar. 1939; a photograph of men taking supplies by horse and sled to a logging camp (193-); and a photograph of Gleneagles ( site of a flying boat base), Glenwood.

The collection also includes a photograph of Mi'kmaq woman, Maggie John, Glenwood, posing with baskets in front of her log cabin, and a portrait of Jesse Abbott, logger and riverman of Gambo. Abbott died when releasing a log jam and was swept over the falls.

Fonds consists of 235 black and white photographs and negatives, mainly of vessels constructed at the Clarenville Shipyard during the period that Basil Fearn was manager of the yard, commencing in 1947. The majority of the photographs are identified. At least 50 percent of the images show vessels under construction at the yard. Some of the images were printed from negatives in 1997.

Vessels include the Matthew, the Terra Nova, the Newfoundland, the Marilyn Marie, the Richard, the Northern Wave, the George Kentner, the Philip E. Lake, the Penny Luck, the Shirley Blanche, the Algerine, the Hermitage, the Random Sound, the East Wind and the Right Wind, built for Job Brothers.

The Maritime History Archive commenced the collection of Irish parish records during the period 1973-1980. The parish records document the genealogical origins of Newfoundland families whose ancestors had emigrated from Ireland before the twentieth century.

The collection consists of microfilmed copies of many Roman Catholic parishes in the Irish counties of Clare, Cork, Kerry, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford and Donegal, as well as many Church of Ireland parishes in counties Cork and Waterford. There are also vestry books for two parishes in County Clare: Castletown Arra and Killahoe.
