Fonds consists of microfilmed ships' accounts, insurance policies and papers for the following vessels: Sally (1796-1801); Dove (1797-99); Snow Mary (1803-04); Mary (1803-04); Susanna (1805); Cattle (1810); Paraquay (1849); General Higgins (1851-52); Hibernia (1789-91); Belmont (1858); Lampedo (1856-58); and Rosannah (1785).

The fonds also includes Leavitt family letters (mostly to Daniel, George and Joseph) for 1802-66; indentures and bonds (1798-1874); bills, receipts and promissory notes (1700-1856); Daniel Leavitt account book (1798); account book (1796-97); and Saint John City Poor House account book (1810-13).

Fonds consists of correspondence and shipping papers for the company operations, 1879 -1933. Material of particular interest is the correspondence and accounts of C. T. Bennett of Bristol, which illustrates the complexities of the marketing structure and the economic factors which affected the salt fish industry as well as providing insight into the day-to-day operations of the business. The fonds also includes vessel expenditures and charter parties. The architect's specifications for the building of the Stonehouse on Water Street, Carbonear, are contained in the correspondence for 1907.

The fonds is arranged in four series: Correspondence, 1880-1933; Financial records, 1879-1920; Shipping records, 1881-1923; Miscellaneous bound volumes, 1892-1920.

Fonds consists of some of the surviving records of William Waterman & Co. of Fogo, Change Islands, and Twillingate, Newfoundland, which concentrate on 1876-1888. The material from Fogo includes ledgers, journals, daybooks and correspondence for the business at Fogo and Change Islands. The correspondence mostly consists of letters and invoices between the company and W. H. Mare, Son and Co., ship brokers of St. John's. The material from Twillingate includes an inventory ledger and an account book "in account with" W. H. Mare, Son and Co.

The fonds is organized in two series by location of the company branches: Fogo, 1874-1919; and Twillingate, 1881-1890.

Collection consists of microfilmed records which provide information on the fishermen who crewed Timothy Orne's vessels, local artisans who furnished provisions for the voyages and maintained the vessels, and his merchant acquaintances from whom he bought and sold fish and supplies. Accounts list the occupations of individuals.

The fonds is arranged in three series: Ledgers, 1738-1767; Ship's journal, 1748-1751; and Ship's ledger, 1758-1768.

Fonds consists of a list of prices charged by the company for specific items, showing cash or "on account" charges, 1859-72. Separate lists exist for summer, fall, and winter prices. Fonds also documents price-fixing between Brooking & Co. and Grieve & Bremner in the 1860s.
