Moran, Galloway & Co.Fonds consists of microfilmed papers of three registers of incoming vessels at Halifax, 1880-1905. The records were kept by Pickford and Black, but include all incoming shipping, regardless of agent. The registers provide the date of arrival, the rig, vessel name, tonnage, port of registry, master, origins, number of days at sea, consignee, cargo, wharf, date of sailing and destination.
Pickford & Black (firm)Fonds consists of four ledgers (1927, 1928-53, 1934, 1935); a diary (1929-54); and price lists. Fonds also includes a membership certificate for the Loyal Orange Association (1929); an annual return for the Orange Lodge (1912); and several published items.
Chollett, L.J.Fonds consists of 31 photocopied blueprints of vessel plans and designs, drawn by Reuben Carpenter between 1964 and 1987. The plans were drawn for the Clarenville Shipyard and for Carpenter's Shipyard at Port Union. The fonds includes line drawings, profile plans and construction plans. File 13 and 14 are plans for a passenger freighter. All other plans are for fishing vessels.
Carpenter, ReubenFonds includes documents and photographs relating to the SS Bonde, her owners and crew. Photographs were taken while the ship was chartered to the Botwood, Newfoundland, paper trade. The fonds includes three photographs: the SS Bonde; the crew of the Bonde; and Captain C.A. Hansen, his wife and daughter (1948).
Hansen, C.A.The microfilmed ledger is volume 1 of the Derby family papers, an extensive collection of business records and family materials belonging to the James Duncan Phillips Library, Peabody-Essex Museum in Salem.
The ledger records Richard Derby's debits and credits with other merchants, as well as with mariners, fishermen, shoremen, artisans, farmers, and widows from Salem and surrounding towns for the years 1757-76 and 1786-90. There is also a copy of Derby's will, dated 1783.
Derby, RichardFonds consists of diaries that give a daily account of the weather, entries and clearances of vessels at Port aux Basques, ice conditions, and sparse comments relating to the fishery and other subjects. The letter books consist of correspondence between Wilson Vardy and the Department of Lighthouses and relates to work carried out on the lights and buoys. The logbooks are an account of the oil, wicks, and glasses used and a daily record of the weather.

Vardy, WilsonCollection consists of research data for Patricia Thornton's doctoral thesis, entitled "Dynamic Equilibrium: Settlement, Population and Ecology in the Strait of Belle Isle, Newfoundland, 1840-1940", (University of Aberdeen, 1979).
Collection includes 13 boxes of index cards, recording information on residents of 48 communities on each shore of the Strait of Belle Isle from 1848 until 1949. Boxes 1 and 3-11 contains the cards recording birth, marriage and deaths, arranged in alphabetical order. Boxes 2 and 13 contain marriage recall cards, which allow linkage between family groups, and additional data sheets.
