The collection consists of microfilmed records from the papers of Frieze and Roy, merchants and shipowners (Maitland, Nova Scotia) and includes charter parties and other papers relating to the vessel Snow Queen, 1876-1889.
Snow Queen (barque)Fonds consists of a list of prices charged by the company for specific items, showing cash or "on account" charges, 1859-72. Separate lists exist for summer, fall, and winter prices. Fonds also documents price-fixing between Brooking & Co. and Grieve & Bremner in the 1860s.
Brooking & Co.Fonds consists of photocopies of the incoming correspondence of the firm of George W. Hunter from many shipowners for whom he acted as agent, and from whom he chartered vessels. Much of his business was done with shipowners from Atlantic Canada. Weekly reports of freight markets from Saint John and Yarmouth are included. The correspondence has been arranged geographically and listed by individual correspondent.
Hunter, George W.Fonds consists of microfilmed selections from the Peake papers, consisting of letter books, 1835-37 and 1845-50, and outgoing and incoming correspondence for 1841-66.
Peake, JamesItem consists of a microfilm reproduction of an account book (109 p.) that contains numerous entries, including accounts with Sir Edmund Andros, Captain Cyprian Southack, and Major John Walley.
Buckley, JosephFonds consists of microfilmed ships' accounts, insurance policies and papers for the following vessels: Sally (1796-1801); Dove (1797-99); Snow Mary (1803-04); Mary (1803-04); Susanna (1805); Cattle (1810); Paraquay (1849); General Higgins (1851-52); Hibernia (1789-91); Belmont (1858); Lampedo (1856-58); and Rosannah (1785).
The fonds also includes Leavitt family letters (mostly to Daniel, George and Joseph) for 1802-66; indentures and bonds (1798-1874); bills, receipts and promissory notes (1700-1856); Daniel Leavitt account book (1798); account book (1796-97); and Saint John City Poor House account book (1810-13).
Leavitt (Family, Saint John, N.B.)Fonds consists of four ledgers (1927, 1928-53, 1934, 1935); a diary (1929-54); and price lists. Fonds also includes a membership certificate for the Loyal Orange Association (1929); an annual return for the Orange Lodge (1912); and several published items.
Chollett, L.J.The microfilmed ledger is volume 1 of the Derby family papers, an extensive collection of business records and family materials belonging to the James Duncan Phillips Library, Peabody-Essex Museum in Salem.
The ledger records Richard Derby's debits and credits with other merchants, as well as with mariners, fishermen, shoremen, artisans, farmers, and widows from Salem and surrounding towns for the years 1757-76 and 1786-90. There is also a copy of Derby's will, dated 1783.

Rawding; a house being towed across Placentia Bay; and Elsie Wareham, Alberto's Wareham's sister.
