              The fonds consists of the personal papers and photographs of the Rennie family of St. John's, including sketches by Marjorie Rennie (1906), and by R. M. Rennie (1921 and undated); bank statements (1923-31, 1938); correspondence (1931,1936, 1937); Christmas cards (from Prime Minister of Newfoundland-1928, and Royal Canadian Legion-1984); poetry; song lyrics (1866); railway voucher for W. Picco for Royal Canadian Navy (1916). The fonds also includes newspaper clippings.

              The fonds consists of records relating to the Rennie businesses including, client list (1982, 1984), R.M. Rennie professional appointment, correspondence with Agriculture Canada (1977), correspondence relating to property ownership (1892, 1893, 1896, 1963), record of labour book (1896-1897), documents relating to the Rennie Baking Company (1902, 1907), undated records of supplies for Rennie's Mill, sales and receipt books (1899-1900, 1956-1981), property maps of Whitbourne property for the National Defence (1742); Corner Brook Bowater's pulp and paper mill (1945); and lot of land leased to U.S.A (1942). The fonds also includes newspaper clippings relating to the Rennie businesses.

              The collection consists of photographic copy negatives donated to the archives, copied from donated and borrowed photographic prints and original negatives made by THEM DAYS staff and others.

              The photographs have been arranged geographically using a system involving one letter followed by a six-digit code. The letter codes are arranged north to south (A is Killinek to Ramah; Z is Forteau to L'Anse-au-Clair). Photographs from outside of Labrador but related to it are classified as "Miscellaneous". Negatives include images of Inuit, Innu, Metis, settlers, agriculture, clothing, furniture, sports, drama, housing, animals, landscapes, fishing, hunting, trapping, crafts, dwellings, tools, churches, transportation, toys and games, aviation, schools, dignitaries, visitors, medicine, International Grenfell Association, Moravian missionaries, clergy, musicians, wildlife, military installations and personnel.

              Fonds consists of materials collected during trips to Newfoundland In 1920, 1921 and 1929. It includes music composition books containing field notes, musical transcriptions and textual transcriptions; correspondence to and from her family; drafts of Newfoundland Days, an unpublished article written for Scribner's magazine and book reviews pertaining to Ballads and Sea Songs of Newfoundland.

              Fonds consists of field notebooks with entries made by Maud Karpeles during her Newfoundland folksong collecting trips. Included are field diaries, notes on Newfoundland history and social organisation, shorthand notes of song texts, notebooks of tune transcriptions and correspondence. The shorthand notes seem to follow a non-standard system perhaps devised by Karpeles herself. Several of the notebooks contain entries made after Karpeles left Newfoundland, and pertain to observations made in New York and various parts of Europe.

              Fonds consists primarily of audio recordings and field notes made in Newfoundland, Labrador and Nova Scotia during Leach's field trips. They include 102 audio recordings made in 1949, 1950, 1951 and 1960. Included also are Leach's tape tables of contents; field notebooks with textual and musical transcriptions; index cards containing information on songs and singers and items of folklore of various genres; 89 b&w negatives of coastal scenes and individuals; photocopies of correspondence with various Newfoundlanders and Canadian officials regarding his proposed field trips, and from informants in Newfoundland.

              Kenneth Peacock fonds

              Fonds consists of audio cassette copies of field recordings done in Newfoundland and Labrador by Peacock in the summer months of 1951 and 1952 and at various times during the years 1958-1961, along with copies of Peacock's tape indexes. Much of this material was published in 1965 as Songs of the Newfoundland Outports, a 3-volume selection of songs he culled from his collecting efforts in Newfoundland. This publication has served to acquaint numerous composers, folksingers and members of the general public with the traditional music heritage of Newfoundland.

              Fonds is arranged into two series: 1. Songs E (87-157) comprises ca. 150 audiocassettes of songs in English; 2. Songs and tunes (99-139) comprises 18 audiocassettes of instrumental music and songs in Gaelic and French.

              The collection contains 70 commercial recordings of Newfoundland performers on audio cassette (ca. 60 min.) and audio disc (45 rpm, 78 rpm and 331/3 rpm) and 65 duplicate copies of these recordings. These items have been recorded by a variety of Newfoundland recording artists, representing a variety of styles, from solo singer-songwriters and comedians to country music bands, dance bands, The Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra and a single recording of Arabic music. Although the publication dates are mostly absent, many were recorded in the 1960s and 1970s.
