Fonds consist of a videotape made during a gathering to celebrate the life of Jan Snellen. The introduction was given by a friend and past colleague in Physiology, Dr. Brian Payton, which was followed by addresses and tributes by friends, family, colleagues and former students who each shed light on the life and career of Dr. Jan Snellen and his involvement with the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland.

It includes daybooks; ledgers which are indexed by customer and/or supplier; memo books which contain information on various individual accounts; and cash receipt books. The fonds also includes two account books (1913-1916) and invoices and correspondence for the business of G.W. Gent of Trinity (1912-1916).

Fonds consists of the working papers of Professor Seary for his 1976 publication Family Names of the Island of Newfoundland. It includes an index of family names and information about different spellings of surnames, geographic distribution of surnames and particular information about persons with specific surnames culled from selected historical documents.

The fonds also includes correspondence, clippings about surnames, folklore survey cards pertaining to Newfoundland surnames, newspaper clippings about Seary's research and other subjects, correspondence between Seary and various individuals about family names and other academic subjects.
