The Family History Society of Newfoundland and Labrador has much material relating to genealogy and history, including cemetery headstone transcriptions, parish records, manuscripts, books, periodicals, family histories, and census records.
CEMETERY TRANSCRIPTIONS: A collection of headstone inscriptions from over 1000 cemeteries across Newfoundland and Labrador.
FAMILY & COMMUNITY HISTORIES: These documents, donated by members of FHSNL, provide researchers with information on several hundred family histories.
PARISH RECORDS: Various records primarily from Trinity Bay, Bonavista Bay and St. John’s, including baptisms, marriages, and burials.
GERT CROSBIE and MILDRED HOWARD: These compilations of genealogical information from Newfoundland newspapers are available for perusal.
DIRECTORIES: A collection of directories is available, including an indexed 1871 Lovell Directory.
PERIODICALS: With nearly 150 titles from across Canada and the rest of the world, our collection of periodicals provides a wealth of genealogical information.
CENSUS RECORDS: A small collection of census records is available.
GENERAL INFORMATION: There is a collection of books and brochures on archives, museums, and heritage groups in the province. While the focus of the collection is on Newfoundland and Labrador, information is also available on genealogical associations in English and Irish counties as well as other Canadian provinces.

The Family History Society of Newfoundland and Labrador Office /Resource Centre is located in the Kenmount Business Center, Suite 101A – 66 Kenmount Road, St. John’s. The building is behind the A & W on Kenmount. Please note: Entrance to the parking lot is only permitted at the southeast end of that plaza area.

The Family History Society of Newfoundland and Labrador is a non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to developing and providing genealogical information in Newfoundland and Labrador. To support the continuing work to compile this valuable information, and cover administrative costs, FHSNL is charging fees for access to its database.
Stage One
Our indexes are searched for the names you submit.
Results can be narrowed by region, religion, date, etc.
The search result lists all matches.
$5 for members
$10 for non-members
Stage Two
Having reviewed the results of your first stage search, you indicate which records you want.
You will receive a print-out of all details associated with the record.
$2 for members
$4 for non-members
US residents please pay in US funds to cover the higher cost of mailing.
