History
The Sir Wilfred Thomason Grenfell Historical Society was formed in 1978 and soon afterwards acquired Grenfell’s house in St. Anthony to restore it for use as a museum and archives.

The Grenfell Historical Society researches, collects, preserves, exhibits and interprets artifacts relevant to the founding of the Grenfell Mission and its effect on the northern communities in the province in relation to medical care, the fishing industry, handicrafts, schooling and the care of orphans.
Other materials of interest includes the writings of Dr. Grenfell, including his books, letters and art; material relating to his family; material relevant to his co-workers, successors and the inhabitants of the area. The material covers the period from 1892, when Grenfell arrived, to 1981 when the Grenfell Regional Health Services Board was founded.
