        Historique

In 1968 the Presbyteries of the Newfoundland Conference were consolidated into three administrative units: Avalon, Terra Nova and Humber Presbyteries. Humber Presbytery was formed from the western part of Grand Falls Presbytery, and included Labrador until 1978. This was done in order to take advantage of the new network of roads that had been built in the interior of the province. Humber Presbytery was included in the West District at the time of re-organization in 1992.

Within the Presbytery various smaller geographic interest groups or Zones were formed. Of these, the most visible were the West Zone, whose activities are reflected in the sub-series, and the Labrador Zone whose records were transferred to Labrador upon that Presbytery's formation (see sub-series 11).
