The photograph contains names of 46 delegates who attended the 1926 Annual Meeting of the Newfoundland Medical Association.
Dr. Whelan’s papers cover the time he was president of the NMA (1968-1969) and consist of minutes of the various committees of the NMA, correspondence, annual reports and proceedings of an open meeting of a planning conference for the Health Sciences Centre (1966). Pertinent issues in Dr. Whelan’s time as NMA president include: planning for the medical school, introduction of Medicare (MCP), and inefficiencies in outpatient care.

The fonds consists of the corporate records of NAFEL, 1947-1970. The records include administrative records, correspondence and financial records. Included in the administrative records are circulars to members; market reports; and publications and correspondence of associated companies and organizations, including the Government of Canada, the Fisheries Council of Canada, the Fisheries Research Board of Canada, the International Commission on Northwest Atlantic Fisheries, the Newfoundland Fish Trades Association, the Newfoundland Fisheries Board, the Newfoundland Fisheries Development Committee, North Atlantic Shipping Ltd., Puerto Rico Exporters Ltd., and the Brazil Exporters Ltd. The accounts and ledger system provides a complete record of all financial and production records of NAFEL members.

The NAFEL fonds is arranged in 8 series according to function: Series 1. Correspondence, 1947-1970; Series 2. Administrative office records, 1947-1970; Series 3. The material consists of textual records of the functions and activities of the Association, including a collection of papers, articles, speeches, periodicals, brochures and reports relating to the various topics dealt with by the Association in its conferences and seminars, or forums attended by its executive members. A small number of photographs of senior citizen housing in Prince Edward Island is in the file relating to housing [9.02]. The alphabetical list of files as processed in 1984 is preserved in Appendix 1, but some material in the cabinet had not been included in that process. The material has been rearranged according to form and function, with weeding of duplicates. Some published material has been retained within the fonds as it relates directly to themes or topics of conferences or projects. Other material has been listed in appendices, and periodical material has been removed to the library of the Newfoundland Historical Society.

The bulk of the records come from the activities of Dr. Stella Burry, president 1975-79 and active executive member, Joyce Nevitt, president 1980-1, 1984-85, active executive member, chair of the education committee, and newsletter editor, and from Norman Pinhorn, treasurer 1980-82. The working file of Joyce Nevitt as president, and a binder compiled by two successive secretaries, Rev. J.F. Ayris and Ada Spencer, 1977-78, have been retained as samples of how the association operated. The fonds consists of a single minute book containing records the meetings relating to the planning, raising funds for and building of the new high school building for Trinity.

Collection consists of typewritten copies of the Constitution of the New Labrador Party; minutes from Executive and Annual Meetings (1969-1986) and nominations for New Executive; and a newspaper clipping excerpted from THE NORTHERN REPORTER entitled: ‘Tom Burgess is Alive and Well’ (1986).

Fonds consists of folkloric material collected by Neil Rosenberg as a result of his specific research interests and collaborations with other individuals. The majority of the material in the fonds deals with the folklore genres of song and music but also includes oral history, personal experience narratives, custom, language, legend, belief and popular culture. Some of Rosenberg's collaborators were Karolyn Stark (1969), Wilfred Wareham (1970, 1971), Herbert Halpert ( 1970), Frederick A. Aldrich (1977), Debora G. Kodish (1977), Peter Narvaez (1978-82), Ray Johnson (1981), the Atlantic Canada Institute (1981) and Tony Trischka [1991?].

The graphic material in the fonds consists of promotional photographs on two proof sheets, colour slides of commercial albums jackets, negatives that were created from photographs originally displayed in newspapers, photographs of Rosenberg's informants, and photographs of various groups that were either taken by Rosenberg or given to him.

The fonds also contains fieldwork notes, informants' biographical sheets, song sheets, songbooks, partial and/or full audio transcriptions and correspondence.

The fonds contains a large amount of published documents, photocopied material, newspaper clippings, promotional posters, commercial recordings, LP catalogues, dubs of radio shows and radio logs that were deposited due to a connection with the collector or informant and/or its folkloric content. These miscellaneous folklore items were collected by Rosenberg and his collaborators from 1979 to 1997.

Fonds consists of two microfilmed letter books dating 1833-47 and 1847-51, which contain correspondence from Nathan Smith DeMill to various businesses. The letter books provide information about accounts, orders, cargo, sailing dates and voyage destinations.

Collection consists of logs and reports of the Northern Labrador Service of the M.V. Winifred Lee (1939-1941); miscellaneous items of correspondence regarding medical supplies on board of vessels; a report on the drowning of crewman Peter Feltham of Glovertown, Newfoundland; and letters, telegraphs, and notes regarding the operation of the M.V. Winifred Lee in Northern Labrador.

These records relate to the activities of the Charge and its functional bodies, financial management of the pastoral charge and the pastoral charge vital statistics.
