Geschiedenis
This building was the original house of Peter and Victoria (Curley) Hackett. They and their family floated this building from Woods Island to Benoit’s Cove in the 1960s during the period of Resettlement, a government enacted program of centralization of rural and out-port communities.
The Centre is now home to artifacts, maps, photographs, reproductions and exhibits detailing the local history and culture of Woods Island, Halfway Point, Benoit’s Cove, John’s Beach, Voy’s Beach and Frenchman’s Cove. This centre could not operate without the generosity of the citizens of Humber Arm South and of former residents of this area for their donations, memorabilia and resources. This place has been established to honour their collective past.
