              Fonds consists of Laws' working files, the majority of which came from Laws' office as manager of NAFEL. Other material relates to the various government agencies and committees with which he was associated. The bulk of the material covers the years from 1936 to 1981, when Laws was a central figure in Newfoundland's fishing industry.

              Fonds consist of textual and graphic records which depict the life and activities of the family. The textual records include family correspondence (1935, 1948); minute books related to the family business (1928-1951); legal documents (1902); and 1 scrapbook of newspaper clippings.

              The graphic materials include 4 tintypes and 36 photographs (predominantly b&w; 15 x 20cm). There are 2 photograph albums; one contains photographs (b&w); the second includes photographs, postcards and newspaper clippings.

              The fonds also includes 8 watercolours by Lottie P. Harris, which are signed LPH.
