Fonds consists of the business records of the firm of W.W. Wareham & Sons Ltd. The majority of the records cover the last 15 years that the firm was operating in Placentia Bay, 1950s-1967, and provide a fairly complete record of the business. The fonds includes financial records, ledgers, journals, stock books, cash accounts, branch and trade accounts; correspondence from suppliers and customers; schooner accounts, fish collection books, fish purchases and sales, production statistics and labour records.

Fonds is arranged in 6 series: Correspondence, 1934-1962; Financial records, 1949-1967; Shipping and fisheries, 1934-1966; Employment, 1949-1961; Personal records, 1947-1949; Miscellaneous, 1966.

The fonds represents the Trinity branch of the WPA in Newfoundland, and consists of two printed annual reports of the WPA, Newfoundland, 1918 and 1945, a small amount of correspondence, knitting patterns and records of material issued and work returned. There is also a file of news clippings relating to members of the armed forces from the Trinity area, including some obituaries. The fonds was assembled by Rupert Morris and contained some items which have been removed.

Fonds consists of diaries that give a daily account of the weather, entries and clearances of vessels at Port aux Basques, ice conditions, and sparse comments relating to the fishery and other subjects. The letter books consist of correspondence between Wilson Vardy and the Department of Lighthouses and relates to work carried out on the lights and buoys. The logbooks are an account of the oil, wicks, and glasses used and a daily record of the weather.

Fonds consists of some of the surviving records of William Waterman & Co. of Fogo, Change Islands, and Twillingate, Newfoundland, which concentrate on 1876-1888. The material from Fogo includes ledgers, journals, daybooks and correspondence for the business at Fogo and Change Islands. The correspondence mostly consists of letters and invoices between the company and W. H. Mare, Son and Co., ship brokers of St. John's. The material from Twillingate includes an inventory ledger and an account book "in account with" W. H. Mare, Son and Co.

The fonds is organized in two series by location of the company branches: Fogo, 1874-1919; and Twillingate, 1881-1890.

The fonds consists of a limited number of legal and political papers. It includes one indenture, dated 8 August 1888, for the property known as "Darby O'Hollohan's Plantation." The fonds also includes one confidential letter to William V. Whiteway from Robert Bond, dated 23 June 1891, which examined the prospects of the Confederation between Newfoundland and Canada.

Fonds consists of a photocopy of part of a handwritten diary kept by William Whiteway, recording details of cases heard in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland from 1888-1899.

Fonds consists of a photocopy of a letterbook, 1834-1841, belonging to William Roche, partner in the firm of Roche and Kinnear. The correspondence contains information primarily dealing with cargos and the West India trade.

Fonds consists of incoming business correspondence of William Graves for 1856. Most of the letters refer to daily business transactions, freight rates and markets, and purchase of supplies. Fonds also contains correspondence from ship captains. Correspondence is arranged alphabetically by correspondent.

Fonds consists of 42 black and white photographs taken by Cabot during his journeys in Labrador. The photographs are part of an exhibition of 57 photographs held at the Johnson Memorial Gallery of Middlebury College in Vermont from January-February 1985. The photographs are mainly of Innu men, women and children engaged in their daily activities and of the landscape surrounding their homes.
