Mandates/Sources of authority
The Rooms Provincial Archives division is mandated, through the Rooms Act 2005, to preserve those records of the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador which are deemed to have enduring legal, fiscal, evidential or research value. The Provincial Archives also collects records from private sources which have enduring value to the history of the province.

Access conditions and requirements
General admission fees do not apply to the Archives. For first time users of the Archives, there is an initial ten dollar fee to obtain a permanent Researcher Registration number.
Accessibility
Strollers and wheelchairs can be signed out free of charge from the Information Desk.
The Rooms has a two hour parking limit.
Services area
Research services
The Client Services Section provides assistance to researchers - both on-site at The Rooms and by distance (e-mail, phone, fax, mail). Researchers can also make appointments with archivists to explore specific research requirements and interests.
Staff is available in the Archives to discuss research topics, point out possible archival sources, give instruction in the use of finding aids, and provide information on any of the services offered.

All orders are subject to 13% HST (Harmonized Sales Tax)
